After Richard Koenigsberg received his PhD in Social Psychology, he became a College Professor at New York Institute of Technology. He realized however, that he could not develop and teach his radical theories on the psychology of political violence at this school.
So he quit. How did he earn a living?
He developed a book exhibit company in which he promoted scholarly books at academic conferences. This became his career from 1988 until 2019 when the conference world ended because of coronavirus.
The promotion piece below will give you an idea of how Koenigsberg earned a living as he was simultaneously studying the First World War, Hitler and the Holocaust—and developing his theories on the psychological sources and meanings of political violence.
Nearly everyone visits the book exhibit at some time during a conference. Since Koenigsberg also was a salesman at these book exhibits, he met and conversed with many of the most important thinkers in the world at these conferences.
As his ideas became well known, he was invited to speak, often as a keynote speaker at many of these conferences. He gave presentations at approximately fifty of the conferences at which his company did book exhibits.
