Building a Wall/Protecting the Rear

Richard A. Koenigsberg

Nations are Bodies

Because nations are experienced in corporeal terms, they seek to secure their borders, orifices, and entry points from infiltration and penetration.

The experience of one’s nation with insecure or porous boundaries is equivalent to the fear that one’s body will be penetrated.

It is necessary to “build a wall”—to protect oneself from aliens threatening to penetrate one’s body. The boundary defends against anal rape.

National anxiety grows out of
personal anxiety. One's own body is projected into the body politic, generating hysteria or paranoia (actually, the same thing).

Hitler stated that for his nation to pursue its foreign policy aims, Germany had to “protect its rear.”
