BUDDHISM: A METHOLOGY  FOR SEPARATING FROM THE SYMBOLIC ORDER
Richard Koenigsberg

Buddhist practice cultivates a psychic space of distance or separateness from belief systems and ideologies. By virtue of Buddhist practice, one nurtures and expands a part of the self not bound to cultural ideas or ideals with which one might identify. The objective is Buddhism is to develop an inner psychic space that has not been colonized by the symbolic order.
