SOLDIERS BECOME SACRIFICIAL VICTIMS

The motto of the Nazi SS-man was “obedience unto death,” an expression that crystallizes the essence of political violence: dying for an abstract entity, whether for a nation, for Allah or for any other entity conceived as sacred.

To be a soldier is to be sucked INTO SUBMISSION AND DEATH. Bizarre theories of "male aggression" paper over the reality that fighting in battle is a form of masochistic submission.

Soldiers rarely reveal (once having returned to civilian life) that the army's promise to make them into men was a "big lie." The soldier hesitates to convey what he had experienced and what he knows: that the job assigned to him was to become a sacrificial victim when his nation asked him to become a sacrificial victim.
