Historians write endlessly, this is their "job," why they get paid, how they earn a living. But until they pose the question WHY, their work is futile; in vain

 Massive tomes/tombs document "what happened." This has gone on forever, telling stories, the "narrative." This is what historians get paid to do. It's their job.

But WHY the endless wars and genocidal episodes throughout history, the perpetual slaughter beginning in the West 2500 years ago with the advent of "civilization?" Until this question is posed and answered, the work of historians is futile; in vain.
