Human beings die and kill to prove the reality of a sacred ideal. Human violence has nothing to do with biology or survival (the delusion of evolutionary psychologists--dead men don't pass their genes along).

Human violence is spiritual: devotion to an abstract idea that the group worships. The nature of the entity or idea for which human beings die and kill is fungible, but the mechanism is the same. Death and memorials erected to the dead—testify to the reality of an entity or ideal. Death and memorialization perform a validation function.

The idea of " male aggression" is a smokescreen and denial mechanism: THE BIG LIE that allows societies to kill young men (and some older men). The lie allows us to pretend that men are masculine and heroic, denying the reality of abject, pathetic, masochistic submission to the nation-state.
