Glancing at the news now and then, I notice that the nightmare of history is coming into being once again. Very scary. But who has created this nightmare? Human beings. Who immerses themselves day and night in this nightmare (nearly everyone).

Is being terrified something human beings deeply desire? The source of meaning and excitement? 

Preferable to wandering aimlessly in the mall and purchasing three T-shirts at a discount?
