The discipline of "history" as the denial of collective psychopathology
(scroll down for photos).
By Richard A. Koenigsberg

The discipline of political psychology grew slowly. But suddenly, it's beginning to flourish. We have no other choice but to pay attention. The world is threatened by psychotic, delusional leaders. Understanding an analysis is required. The human neurosis or psychosis. Sitting behind a couch is not enough.

Trump and Putin have contributed powerfully by providing demonstrations of madness in real time. On the stage of reality.

Oh, there was always madness. The history of the Twentieth Century is the history of madness. The discipline of "history" constitutes a DENIAL OF MADNESS. As if the First World War, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot were just everyday guys, doing what political leaders do.

HISTORY AS A DISCIPLINE WHOSE PURPOSE IS TO DENY COLLECTIVE INSANITY. If if happened, it must be real. How could an entire century (and now another century)) be the story of collective insanity? The normalization of insanity. Ah, but we haven't done clinical interviews with these cats, so how can we say anything about their psychopathology? Nothing more fatuous than the AMERICAN PSYCHIATRIC ASSOCIATION (poor Bandy Lee).

THE BIG LIE (Howard Bloom and I coined this phrase in November 2016 in a podcast we did on Donald Trump): the delusion that insanity is normality. "The horror, the horror." Kurtz's end in Joseph Conrad's THE HEART OF DARKNESS. Two-hundred million dead in the Twentieth Century. The normalization of massive psychopathology.

The psychiatrists won't get there (and lots of psychiatrists are receiving this email, what say you?). "Social anxiety disorder" (shyness) as psychopathology. They are comfortable with this diagnosis.

Madness RIGHT IN FRONT OF EVERYONE'S FACE. The psychopathology of everyday life. Not "slips of the tongue." But the expectation of the DESTRUCTION OF THE HUMAN RACE. Don't take my word for it. Watch the News Shows on the Internet if you dare. This is what they are talking about. A nuclear war. The same way they talk about McDonald's Hamburgers. "Thank you for having me on." Nuclear Holocaust. The psychopathology of everyday life. "I'm OK, you're OK." The one book my father read.

The phony discipline of "evolutionary psychology:" the nature of organisms is determined what enhances the probability of survival. It's "built into our genes." Comical. Nuclear war and the destruction of the human race. Killer chimpanzees as the source of nuclear war: Richard Wrangham, Richard Dawkins, Stephen Pinker ("every day in every way, we are getting better and better"). Destruction of the human race explained by "survival of the fittest." Nonsense in the public domain.

But Richard, how can so many people in serious academic positions be wrong? Seventy-million people voted for Donald Trump. You can take things from there. I can't do all the work.

"Beliefs" rooted in fantasy and desire. Nothing to do with "rationality." The nature of the human race is so difficult to conceive and embrace. The will to destruction. But don't you feel like dying sometimes? Check Yourself (song by The Temptations). How many times a days does the phrase pass your mind, "I wish I were dead." But of course you're not going to kill yourself. It's just a moment of despair. Culture takes moments of despair (the wish to die) and transform them into institutions (warfare).

Still, we have electricity and air-conditioning and Mariah Carey and Smokey Robinson and Robert de Niro and (had) Mickey Mantle. We have supermarkets and hamburgers and milk-shakes, refrigerators and baseball. I'm not performing a critique of human culture. I'm writing about massively destructive social institutions that are one element of the human condition.

Still, we do have to face the fact that human beings created these ideas and institutions that reflect and embody the will to destruction. The "external world" is not external to the human race. We created this world. Seems obvious, but DENIAL is the essence of the human race. The world is NOT SEPARATE from the minds of human beings who created this world. Each and every form of "objective reality" originated in the minds of human beings. The entire kit-and-caboodle.
