The photo and two paragraphs below convey the foundational idea of Nazism. Germany was conceived as a real body politic
and Jews as the cause of the disease from which the nation was suffering. To cure the disease, Jewish bacteria had to be destroyed.
Hitler, Doctor of the German People, enacted the "cure."
This idea accounts for both the Holocaust and war against the Soviet Union: Bolsheviks were Jews and Jews Bolsheviks. The Soviet Union
was the source or origin of Jewish bacteria, "flowing in" from the East.
To stem the tide, a war of extermination had to be waged. Each and ever Jewish bacterium had to be identified and destroyed.
The entire living space had to be cleared out so that no bacterium could avoid detection.
Both the Holocaust and war against the Soviet Union were undertaken as a "rescue" fantasy:
a life against death struggle to destroy Jewish bacteria in order to save the life of Germany.

Nazi ideology was constituted by a fantasy projected into reality. The first part of Hitler's ideological fantasy was his conception of Germany as a living organism. The second part was his belief that the nation was suffering from a disease that would prove fatal unless radical actions were undertaken
Hitler identified Jews as the source or cause of Germany's disease. Jews were pathogenic microorganisms whose continuing presence within the nation would lead to its demise. It was therefore necessary--to cure Germany's disease—to eliminate Jews from within the body politic. The Nazi movement was conceived as a struggle of life against death; between the healthy German organism and the viral Jewish element.
