VERY IMPORTANT TO REITERATE CERTAIN IDEAS--TO ESTABLISH THE TRUTH.
In his declaration of war (September 1, 1939) Hitler asked Germans to do what he was ready to do: to lay down his life" for his people and country (see my post from yesterday, October 25, below).
He went on to say in his Declaration of War that if anyone thought he could "evade this national duty" (to lay down his life) this individual would "perish."
Hitler said what he meant, and meant what he said. If a human being wasn't willing to lay down his life for Germany, he would kill this human being.
Millions of German soldiers and civilians did lay down their lives. Eventually, those that did not voluntarily or willingly lay down their lives (die) were killed. The greatest mass-murder in human history: estimates now go as far as sixty-million: mental patients, Jews, Poles, Russians killed in battle, Soviet Prisoners of war...one can add many other groups of people to this list.
There is no mention in Hitler's Declaration of War of "conquest" or "living space." It's all about death and killing. The evidence of Hitler's intentions are right in front of our faces--and the results (empirical data) are abundantly clear.
Hitler's fundamental objective was to kill people (more accurately, to compel people to die). This objective accounts for at least 80% of the variance in terms of Hitler's campaigns (genocide and war).
Not easy to abandon the conventional narrative. But we are moving in this direction: Hitler's fundamental ambition was to get people to die for Germany. His dream or aspiration or fantasy was to establish sacrificial death as the summum bonum of human existence.
Some people would sacrifice their lives more-or-less voluntarily (or at least--like German soldiers--would not vehemently protect).
Others would be compelled to die--those that thought they could "evade the national duty" (to die for Germany) would perish.
Hitler stated his intention right from the start--and fulfilled his ambition by killing tens-of-millions of people.

Newsletter Post of Monday, October 25 (yesterday):
Time to understand the meaning of Hitler's murderous reign of terror, once and for all. Please take a look first at the passage on the lower right, Hitler's declaration of war on September 1, 1939.
(1) Hitler himself (conceiving himself as a "German soldier") is ready to wage war on the Eastern front. War against Great Britain wasn't Hitler's cup of tea.
(2) He asks of Germans to "do what he was prepared to do at any moment:" to "lay down his life."
- (A) As far as he himself was concerned, Hitler was true to his word: he laid down his life (committed suicide).
- He then asked every German to do what he was going to do: to lay down his or her life for "his people an for his country."
Soldiers and SS men were required to be "obedient unto death." This is the SACRIFICIAL MOTIF I've been writing about endlessly. No mention of conquest, etc.--the wet dream of historians and those who watch and thrill to the "history channel" (the "Hitler channel as Michael Vlahos calls it).
(3) Then the crucial passage: Anyone who thinks that he can "evade this national duty" would perish. The national duty was to "lay down one's life for Germany."
Those who thought they could evade the national duty (to lay down one's life for Germany) would perish.
In other words, if one failed in performing the national duty (laying down one's life), this individual would perish (i. e., would be killed).
This was Hitler's ideology in a nutshell: lay down your life (die for Germany voluntarily) or--if you resist this national duty (to lay down one's life) one will "perish" in any case, i. e., be killed.
In short, DIE FOR GERMANY, OR WE WILL KILL YOU.
This was Hitler's philosophy--and what actually happened during the Nazi era: people sacrificed their lives for Germany willingly.
Or, those who refused or were unable to sacrifice their lives willingly--were compelled to sacrifice their lives. They were killed--died for Germany.
