Beautiful women have always been at the core of my existence. Here's Constanza Casella (BELOW). She was Assistant to the President of the Book of the Month Club (yet with only a ninth grade education). Quite a brilliant woman, the girl of my dreams.
But she was very young when I met her, and we broke up. Too early for such an attractive women to settle down: "I'm still searching for the man of my dreams," she wrote.
Too young to know how unusual it is to find true love.
But I never gave up on her, sent her a Christmas card each year, and finally had the nerve to go back to see her three years later.
"How did you know I wouldn't find someone else," she asked as we hugged each other in her apartment. Well, as they say, true love is hard to find.
As we talked to each other, she somehow muttered, "You were the only one I really luft" (Colombian pronunciation of love).
Well, I was happy to hear this, but the relationship soon came to an end. She had lost something. Some inner spiritual quality (beauty is the result of an inner spiritual quality) had been crushed. I looked hard for it, but couldn't find it within her. Maybe too much struggle for a young girl in Manhattan, on her own.
So...I finally was able to let her go. We each had done our best, but it wasn't to be.
Love,
Richard
