BY CALLING YOUNG MEN "AGGRESSIVE"--WE FEEL LESS GUILTY ABOUT KILLING THEM

Carolyn Marvin presents the bluntest statement of the sacrificial theory of warfare (that I first presented at a meeting of the INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF POLITICAL PSYCHOLOGY in 1988). She says:

Sacrificial designates go willingly, becoming murderers so we can kill them more easily.

This statement allows us to understand the desire to develop a theory of "male aggression."

If we can "accuse" men of being aggressive murderers," then we will feel less guilty when we turn them into sacrificial victims.

The theory of "male aggression" is a smokescreen: the "big lie," disguising the horrible reality, the horrific nature of human beings--sending young men to die in warfare, then fatuously trying to blame the young men: "Young men are aggressive killers--therefore they deserve to die."
