Discourse as a Dependent Variable

My ideas about "The Wall" build upon the theory that the body (or the mental representation of the body)--along with desires, fantasies and anxieties bound to the body--is the source of the nature and shape of ideologies.

Whereas Foucault sees discourse as an independent variable, shaping bodily experience, I understand discourse as the dependent variable--being shaped by bodily experience.

We project or externalized inner bodily experiences--as well as fantasies and desires and anxieties connected to the body--into the external world. Ideologies and discourses derive their nature and shape from these bodily experiences, desires and fantasies.
