However, consciousness changes slowly in any field of endeavor. Do you know what we do? Library of Social Science is not a combined book exhibit company (although we provide many of the same services). Rather, our mandate is to organize and manage book exhibits for scholarly and professional conferences. We do not rent booths or tables. Rather, conference organizers bring us on board by asking us to create, organize and manage the book exhibit for their meeting. We work on a quid pro quo basis: The organization provides the facilities or space—and we provide an exciting, comprehensive book exhibit—unlike any the organization has ever had. Each conference at which we create and organize a book exhibit is attended by a well-trained, professional LSS book exhibit manager who is onsite to set up the exhibit, take orders, distribute literature, and discuss your books with attendees. Our regular on-site managers include Richard Klein, Hugh Galford, and Mei Ha Chan. For photos of a typical Library of Social Science Book Exhibit, please see directly below and click here.
· · · · · · · · · · · · · The National Association of African American Studies (NAAAS)The National Association of African American Studies (NAAAS) was founded in 1992 to promote African and African-American Studies and to train young scholars in these fields. In two decades since, NAAAS has been joined by the National Association of Hispanic & Latino Studies, the National Association of Native American Studies and the International Association of Asian Studies to become one of the leading multi-cultural and ethnic studies societies—one unlike any other in the United States. Their joint annual conference is a multidisciplinary reflection of scholarly excellence across the full range of academic disciplines. From their first conference in 1993 with 140 presentations and 300 attendees, NAAAS has striven to make its conferences scholarly smorgasbords of academically significant topics. Presenters—originally mostly from the southeastern US—now attend from Africa, Asia, Europe, South America and the Islands. Invited speakers of note have included Dr. Germaine Fauntleroy, the first Black female Superintendent of Public Schools in Petersburg, VA, and former Virginia governor L. Douglas Wilder, the first elected Black governor in the country. At the 2011 NAAAS conference, speakers from around the world will give over 600 presentations, covering topics from education and social issues, health and sports, and religion to economics, military studies, history and literature, science, and special panels on Islamic Studies. It is anticipated that in the course of this exciting meeting—lasting an entire week—nearly 3,000 people will attend. This is one of the best opportunities of the year to promote your titles on African American Studies, Hispanic & Latino Studies, Native American Studies, Asian Studies and Islamic Studies—and all aspects of ethnic studies, demography, and social and cultural issues. Attendees at this conference look for teaching and research materials on all aspects of the African and African-American, Hispanic and Latino, Native and Indigenous, and Asian experience. We urge you to participate by exhibiting at this prestigious, exciting event.
