AHS—founded in 1919—promotes the interdisciplinary study of the history of agriculture. Scholars, educators and policy-makers at this solid, well-run conference present research on rural communities in all historical periods. This year’s meeting addresses how local communities have shaped agriculture—and how farmers and rural populations are tied to distant places by institutions, ecosystems and the business of agriculture. The third-oldest discipline-based professional organization in the US, AHS interprets the field broadly, with members including agricultural economists, anthropologists, environmentalists, historians, historical geographers and rural sociologists.
This is the best meeting of the year to promote your titles on rural, environmental and economic history around the world—and how rural communities have interacted with the wider society through policy, labor, agricultural production and conservation movements.

ABOUT THE BOOK EXHIBIT
The Library of Social Science’s book exhibit will be a major attraction of the AHS conference. Located at the center of the meeting space—with registration and coffee breaks—our exhibit will offer participants the opportunity to select from a comprehensive collection of the latest and most significant books and journals in the field.
Our professional exhibit managers will be on-site from the beginning of the conference to its conclusion. We actively promote your books by discussing them with conferees, distributing promotional material, selling books on-site using publisher-supplied order forms and urging attendees to consider titles for course adoption and library acquisition.
