LIBRARY OF SOCIAL SCIENCE BOOK EXHIBITS

The Seventh Annual Social Theory Forum:
“Critical Social Theory: Freud & Lacan for the 21st Century”
University of Massachusetts Boston w April 7-8, 2010

Book Exhibit The annual Social Theory Forum brings together international scholars to explore social theories in global and historical contexts, examine the field’s current and future state, and evaluate classical and contemporary social theory in a critical, cross-disciplinary framework. This year’s conference explores the relationship between psychoanalysis and critical social theory. Attendees will engage and interrogate Freud’s and Lacan’s theories and their influence on Sociology, feminist theory, queer theory, philosophy of mind and literary criticism to determine how the unconscious affects the construction of hierarchical social relations.

This is the best meeting of the year to reach prominent educators seeking texts, titles for assigned readings and research materials on Freud, Lacan, psychoanalysis and its role in informing critical social theory.

ABOUT THE BOOK EXHIBIT

The LSS book exhibit will once again be a featured component of the Social Theory Forum. Located at the heart of the conference in the Ryan Lounge—where registration, coffee breaks and keynote addresses are held—our tables offer attendees a unique opportunity to buy books from our comprehensive collection.

Our professional exhibit managers actively promote titles
by distributing flyers and catalogues, discussing books with conferees, selling books on-site using publisher-supplied order forms, and urging faculty to consider titles for course adoption and library acquisition.
