Our Largest Book Exhibit of 2010:
PACIFIC SOCIOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION
The annual meeting of the PSA is one of the largest and most popular sociological conferences. With well over 1,000 people expected to attend, the 2010 conference will examine the individual’s relationship to today’s shifting social reality and how sociology is changing to respond to new questions about social structures, social change and how peoples clash and coexist. Attendees—prominent scholars, educators, practitioners and students from across the United States—are avid book buyers looking for titles on the full range of sociological topics. The LIBRARY OF SOCIAL SCIENCE represented 44 presses and promoted over 275 titles at the 2009 PSA meeting. In addition, a number of publishers sent their own representatives, set up tables and “did their own thing.” Most of the publishers with significant titles in sociology exhibit at this meeting—this is an exciting conference that you cannot afford to miss. Book exhibit from previous Pacific Sociological Association meeting. This conference is one of the best opportunities of the year to reach an enthusiastic audience seeking monographs for their own research and texts for classroom use. As usual, the LIBRARY OF SOCIAL SCIENCE BOOK EXHIBIT will be a featured component of the PSA meeting. Thirty tables are allotted for our exhibit at the center of the meeting space—offering conferees a unique opportunity to buy books from a comprehensive collection of titles from the major publishers. Scholars will review books, catalogues and promotional literature in a setting conducive to thoughtful evaluation for research and classroom use. Our professional exhibit managers actively promote titles by distributing flyers and catalogues, discussing books with conferees, selling books on-site using publisher-supplied order forms, and urging faculty to consider titles for course adoption and library acquisition. Attendees at this conference look for teaching and research materials in all domains of sociology, including race, gender, class, social change, conflict and the role of social institutions.
