LIBRARY OF SOCIAL SCIENCE BOOK EXHIBITS

3rd Annual International Conference on
"Engaging the Other:" The Power of Compassion
September 4-7, 2008, San Francisco (San Mateo), CA

LSS"Engaging the Other" (ETO) is a multicultural conference and interactive learning community, promoting peace, justice and dialogue to foster social change. Through keynote and plenary sessions, workshops and dialogue groups, 400+ participants address the roots of fear-based belief systems and stereotypes, the development of identity, images of "The Other," and communal trauma. ETO serves as a collaborative venue stimulating proactive efforts towards peaceful coexistence—globally and locally—through reconciliation and the appreciation of diversity.

This is one of the best opportunities of the year to promote your titles to a prime market of professionals, peace advocates and educators eager to acquire the latest publications covering the full range of titles on peace, justice, social change, nonviolence, gender, stereotypes, race and identity.

Space is limited. Please fill out and fax your reservation form as soon as possible to reserve a space for your press.

ABOUT THE BOOK EXHIBIT

The Library of Social Science's book exhibit will be at the heart of the meeting space. Participants attending this large, collegial meeting—academics, activists, policy analysts, religious leaders and the general public—seek monographs for their own research and use, and texts for classroom adoption. Our exhibit will constitute a comprehensive collection of recent and significant titles on peace, justice, social change, nonviolence, gender, stereotypes, race and identity from the major publishers.

Our professional exhibit managers will be on-site from the beginning of the conference to its conclusion. We actively promote your titles by distributing flyers and catalogs, discussing books with conferees, selling books on-site using publisher-supplied order forms, and urging faculty to consider titles for course adoption and library acquisition.
